A great way to start

No matter if you are interested in getting a pilot license, give away a flight experience or simply just try your wings, a trial lesson is sometime easy and available. No previous knowledge or experience required!

We fly more or less all year round, weather permitting. Contact us to book your trial lesson!

Are you ready to go all the way?

To know which pilot license is the most suitable for you, it is important to know what you would like to do with your license. You will find most of the information online but do not hesitate to contact us to know more about the different pilot licenses.

At Back2Basics we focus mainly on the Light Aircraft Pilot License, LAPL, but can under certain circumstances train for other licenses as well.

The training is based on a theoretical and a practical part. We offer our students distance learning at 100% which gives our students a lot of freedom and flexibility. However, it is not suitable for all candidates but contact us and we will help you find a solution that works.

Costs?
A pilot license will cost you about 100 000 SEK. The cost will vary depending on how many hours of flying you will need. Your own ability but foremost how often you fly will decide how many hours you will need. The bare minimum for an LAPL is 30 hours but you should budget for 35-40 hours.

RENEW/REVALIDATE A RATING

That time of the year?

We can help you to revalidate a valid rating or to renew a lapsed rating. You can do it in our aircraft or we can arrange to do it in another aircraft that you have access to.

We can do PC or Flight Review for the following:

  • SEP(land)
  • IR – Instrument Rating
  • PC-12 Class Rating

TAILWHEEL

Difference training for the initial or recurrent training?

Do you wish to start flying tailwheel aircraft or just brush up on your skills? We train tailwheel pilots, either in our own PA-12 or in your own aircraft.

In order to learn the different aspects of tailwheel flying, we follow this syllabus:

  1. Theoretical session about tailwheel training and its challenges
  2. Airwork with stall, full stall, steep turns and slow speed
  3. Three point landings on grass, saving a “bad landing”
  4. Wheel landings
  5. Crosswind landings
  6. Landing on sealed runways

Approximate flight time is 3-10 hours depending on your ability.

ABOUT US

OUR AIRCRAFT

“BEKen” is our Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser, fitted with a tailwheel and a 135 hp Lycoming engine. It is a proven concept for training back in the days and we believe that it challenges you as a student in just the right way to make you a more versatile pilot.

THE INSTRUCTOR

Niklas Larsson is the flight school manager and the instructor. I have been a flight instructor since 2009 and worked at both commercial flight schools as well as smaller outfits run by aero clubs. I am also involved in Swedish AOPA och the Royal Swedish Aeroclub. My areas of expertise are flight training and aircraft maintenance.
